From Lathe to Unique Piece – How a Wooden Dildo Is Made

How is a handcrafted wooden dildo actually made? In this post we take you behind the scenes of our Austrian partner workshops and show you every step – from wood selection to the finished unique piece.

Step 1: Wood Selection

Everything starts with the right raw material. At Gendoras we exclusively use sustainably sourced premium wood from responsible forestry:

Olive wood: Warm, lively grain with gold and brown tones. Often from old trees that no longer bear fruit.

Walnut: Dark, noble coloring with fine patterns. European walnut for timeless elegance.

Padauk: Intense reddish-brown with exotic character. One of the hardest available woods.

Each piece is carefully checked for even structure, grain quality, and flawlessness before entering the workshop.

Step 2: Turning & Sanding

On the lathe, the wood is precisely shaped by our experienced craftspeople in Carinthia. Each dildo receives its ergonomic form individually – no CNC machines, just genuine handwork.

Then comes sanding – in multiple passes with increasingly fine grit. The result: an absolutely smooth, splinter-free surface without any unevenness. This step is crucial for the pleasant, gentle feel during use.

Step 3: Sealing & Quality Control

After sanding, every dildo is sealed with DIN EN 71/3-certified lacquer. This lacquer is:

Saliva-proof – also approved for children's toys.

Water-repellent – protects the wood from moisture.

Hypoallergenic – safe for sensitive skin.

100% splinter-free – smooth, supple surface.

Finally, each piece undergoes strict quality control: surface, shape, seal, and dimensions are inspected. Only dildos meeting our high standards leave the workshop.

Why Craftsmanship Makes the Difference

In a world of mass production, Gendoras deliberately chooses handwork in Austria. Here's what makes the difference:

Every piece is unique: No two dildos share the same grain. You get a product that exists only once.

Maximum precision: Experienced craftspeople recognize each wood piece's uniqueness and bring it out – no machine can do that.

Sustainable: Short delivery routes within Austria, sustainable materials, fair production. More: Sustainable sex toys

Long-lasting: A handcrafted wooden dildo with DIN-certified seal lasts many years with proper care.

Conclusion: From Raw Material to Unique Piece

The creation of a Gendoras wooden dildo combines traditional craftsmanship with the highest quality standards. From careful wood selection through precise turning to DIN-certified sealing – every step serves one goal: delivering a product that is safe, beautiful, and unique.
